Canada: Barley prices following global trend towards weakness
Following the global price trend, we see weaker barley prices in Canada as well, RMI Analytics reported.
As the highest price market globally, there is little demand interest at the moment and at the same time farmers are busy seeding crops with little interest in selling.
In the domestic feed barley market, there has been a slight drop in values but spot prices remain above CAD400/tonne. New crop prices are CAD358/tonne and continue to point to weaker prices ahead. Imported US corn remains priced at CAD15-25 per tonne cheaper than feed barley.
